Whether selling light bulbs, cows, or widgets, your decisions are only as good as your information. "Data mining" is the process of filtering useful information from the whole universe of available data. These efforts include:

- Interfacing with the data source to determine the available data (your business system)
- Setting up a data conduit either directly or through data exports from the business system
o Designing database to be used for the data mining operation or
o In some situations, we can use MS Excel to "cleanup" data and provide data or reports (the end product that we design does not require a "expert" to be able to "run reports")
- Developing "USEFUL" reports and /or charts
- Getting operation to run as automatically and hands-off as possible
- Training personnel to run reports and handle maintenance of system as required
